Essential Equipment for Aspiring Artists
March 31, 2009For anyone who’s ever been in a field that relies on creativity, you know that starting out as an artist is quite difficult. When you’re a young artist, whether a writer, graphic designer, or three dimensional model designer, landing the first job can be difficult. The most common problem is lack of experience (of course) and the fact that without a job you often don’t have samples of your work. Without those valuable samples, companies that are hiring can’t know whether you’re a talented artist or just another scrub. Chances are you do have a few samples from work in college or school, and it’s important to utilize those samples as much as possible. Having a digital imaging system and scanner around at all times is an excellent idea. Digital imaging systems are essential for all artists because you can submit your works for job opportunities at a moment’s notice.
When choosing amongst digital imaging systems, be sure to browse around. There are lots of systems that have different features and even function at different speeds, so make sure the piece you select is useful for your profession.
Go Green with Paperless Filing!
March 19, 2009
In these tough economic times, practices that can reduce costs and are also friendly towards the environment are rare. In offices, think about all those filing cabinets filled with papers, and think of all the money spent on paper and all the time spent filing. With paperless management software, you can organize all your essential files on the computer, back them up on an external hard drive, and have no paper or filing costs! This helps the environment and can increase revenues; it’s a win-win situation.
In addition, with all kinds of businesses and even the government focusing on green solutions, it’s not unfeasible to think of paperless management software as a potential tax write-off. Save time and money by keeping all your documents on the computer; it’s the future of document management!
Organizing at the Law Firm
March 5, 2009
I’m Alice, and while I’m going to school full time, I work at a law firm part time to get experience. When I started working at the law office I noticed right away that my boss could never stay organized, he had hundreds of legal documents strewn all around his desk, and his computer desktop was even worse. I only knew a little about legal documents when I started, but I did know about organization. I suggested to my boss that he purchase a legal document management system, to keep all his cases in order. He said he didn’t need it.
Then a few weeks passed, and he ended up losing a case because he couldn’t produce the documents he needed for evidence. It was then he agreed to purchase the legal document management system I suggested. I installed the software on his computer, and a few weeks later, he told me he couldn’t remember how he lived without it. Though I did work hard, I’m sure it also contributed to the promotion I got later that year!
